Who was the best conference?

What am I Kirk Herbstreit? How the hell do I know. I do know that everyone argues that their conference is the best all offseason using stats like non-conference winning percentage or bowl game winning percentage (Big East 5-0 eat that ACC). And I'm tired of hearing about quality in conference wins b/c if Texas plays Oklahoma one of them is going to win and the Big 12 gets the win either way. So like the geek that I am I decided to take a look at what the bowl eligible teams from each BCS conference did versus bowl eligble non-conference teams. I was a little surprised by the results. Now this is only bowl eligible v. bowl eligible so a game like USF losing to Kansas never happened. Honestly, I looked it up like 5 times just to make sure that was the same USF that beat us. Apparently it was.

Big 12 (4-11)--good god they won nothing against good non-conference teams, probably the worst of the BCS conferences this year.
Wins:
Ok. State v. Alabama
Texas Tech v. Minn.
Tesas v. Iowa
Neb. v. Troy

Losses:
Ohio State v. Texas
TCU v. Texas Tech
USC v. Nebraska
Louisville v. Kansas State
Rutgers v. Kansas State
Cal v. Texas A and M (and look at their non-conference schedule, for shame)
Oregon St. v. Mizzu
Boise St. V. Oklahoma
Auburn v. Nebraska
Houston v. Okla. State
Oregon v. Oklahoma

Big 10 (5-9)--they might have been worse than the Big 12 for gods sake
Wins:
Penn St. v. Tenn.
Wisc. v. Ark.
Mich v. ND
Ohio St. v. Texas
Ohio St. v. Cinci

MD v. Purdue
Cal. v. Minn.
TTech v. Minn.
Texas v. Iowa
ND v. Penn State
USC v. Mich
Fla v. Ohio State

Pac 10 (12-6)--USC was the balls non-conference

Oregon v. Oklahoma (and yes it counts)
Arizona St. v. Nevada
UCLA v. Utah
UCLA v. Rice
Cal. v. Minn.
Cal v. Texas A and M

USF v. ECU
Rutgers v. Kansas State
WVU v. GT
Louisville v. WF
Cinci v. WMU

losses:
Cinci v. Ohio State

ACC (12-9)--Miami and Fla. St. beat every barely bowl eligible non-BCS team out there. If you are 7-5 and in the Sun Belt conference watch the fuck out.

VT v. Cinci
Miami v. Houston
Fla. State v. UCLA
BC v. Navy
Miami v. Nevada

Georgia v. GT

SEC (12-5)

Alabama v. Hawaii
KY v. Clemson
SC v. Houston
SC v. Clemson
Georgia v. VT

So there, another massive research project just to give you some ammo the next time someone from the Big 10 tells you that it is the best fb conference in the history of man.
